Southwest College

Los Angeles Southwest College’s service area consists of 45 square miles that includes parts of the City of Los Angeles and unincorporated sections of Los Angeles County (2nd Supervisorial District), as well as portions of Gardena, Hawthorne, and Inglewood. For almost 50 years, Southwest College has focused its resources on empowering a diverse student population to help achieve their academic and career goals. It is a is a two-year college that awards Associate’s Degrees in more than 30 fields and occupational certificates in more than 45 disciplines. It offers a range of programs that meet the community’s needs, including college transfer services, occupational training, community services as well as general, transitional and continuing education.

Student Union

Student Union

The new 2-story, 31,000 square foot Student Union will serve as the heart of student life at Southwest College. This new addition will add student lounge spaces, a gaming room, conference and meeting spaces and offices for the Associated Student Organization, Student Life and Administration. The building incorporates a number of sustainable design features, such as drought-tolerant landscaping and rooftop solar-power photovoltaic panels with the capability of generating 240,584 kWh per year.

The new 27,000 square-foot will house the Physiology, Anatomy, Biotech, Biology, Geography, Geology and Chemistry programs. The building will feature a roof-top observation deck for the Astronomy program.

Small Contractor Boot Camp - Fall 2022

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) Small Contractor Boot Camp is a four-session program designed specifically for small contractors to improve their competitive bidding capacity. Through a comprehensive, hands-on curriculum, small contractors will learn more about the pre-qualification process for the Pre-Qualified Service Provider (PQSP) bench contracts for projects ranging from $25K - $5M, how to bid for work, and successfully execute BuildLACCD construction projects.
